Brandon Cook
The Arborist
Brandon Cook was born and raised in the glorious Pacific Northwest, growing up in Kenmore, he has always had his hands in the dirt, starting his first neighborhood lawn route when he was 8 years old.
His next step on the pathway to becoming the Plant Nerd he is today was when he started working Summers for a local Tree Care and Excavation company, he worked 6 years for that firm and in his time there earned his ISA Arborist Certification. As Brandon’s family began to grow, he married Lisa who is our wonderful Office Administrator and he began working for Tom Quigley of Olympic Nursery where his focus was on structural pruning of all of the nursery stock so that when it was sold and installed it was in as good of form and health as possible.
As the years continue to turn by, he’s earned additional qualifications such as, Certified Arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture, a Qualified Tree Risk Assessor, a Washington State Certified Pesticide Applicator, Certified Professional Horticulturist and holds a degree in Landscape & Restoration Horticulture from Edmonds Community College. In January of 2020 Brandon passed the requirements needed to earn his Board-Certified Master Arborist designation, an honor that less than 2% of all ISA Certified Arborists go on to achieve. With years of experience in landscape installation, lawn maintenance, lawn renovation, irrigation, fine pruning, tree climbing, and gardening there’s not much he hasn’t done in the landscape industry.
Brandon also has a strong commitment to ongoing education and continues to fulfill his Continuing Education Units for his certifications not only to stay up to date on the newest information in the fields of Horticulture and Arboriculture, but also in order to expand the solutions The Plant Nerds can offer their awesome clients. Brandon loves empowering his team of plant happy employees to constantly be growing their knowledge, experience and ability to bring joy into your garden. Brandon likes to spend his free time working in his 2 acre garden with his wife and 2 daughters, he also enjoys creating cocktails from local distilleries and fruit and herbs he grows in his garden. If you’d like a custom cocktail recipe based on ingredients from your landscape he would love the challenge! You can reach Brandon at 425-595-3451, Extension #701.
Dane Bailey
Frond Man
Dane Bailey, a Tennessee native, has his background serving in the United States Navy. Dane was introduced to the beautiful PNW when he was stationed out of Everett. After returning home to Tennessee upon the conclusion of his service including a Tour of Duty, Dane and his wife moved back up to Everett, Washington because they had fallen in love with all of the glorious nature opportunities that our area provides, you just might catch Dane and Jenny out on a hiking trail!
Dane received his degree in Landscape Design from Edmonds Community College, is a Certified Professional Horticulturist and is also a Washington State Certified Pesticide Operator. Dane’s passion for plants is apparent, with his eye for details and knowledge of plants big and small you know you’re in good hands when he’s onsite. He gets his nickname Frond Man from his passion for all thing’s ferns (seriously he owns at least a dozen different species, and growing) and because Brandon decided that was going to be his nickname for the website years ago. Dane has been a part of the team about 6 months after the company started in 2014, and has been instrumental in setting the standard of care for client yards with his strong personal integrity and overarching desire to create gardens that bring a smile to clients faces.
Dane plays a large part in the training of the Horticultural team by not only teaching the science behind the practices but leading from the front by showing the strong work ethic, personal motivation, and unwavering eye for detail that we pride ourselves on. He enjoys spending his free time learning new recipes for his Smoker upon which he perfects BBQ, of course his Smoker is surrounded by lush and rare plants that he and Jenny have collected from the region’s nurseries. You can reach Dane at 425-595-3451, Extension #703.
