Proper tree care requires both skill and knowledge to ensure trees and shrubs stay healthy, well-shaped, and long-lasting. At The Plant Nerds, our team is highly trained in the art and science of pruning, bringing expert care to every tree and shrub we handle. From ornamental tree pruning to fruit tree maintenance and small tree removals, we provide specialized tree care services in Everett, WA, and neighboring areas.
Pruning is essential for tree health, structure, and aesthetic appeal. Our team has undergone extensive training, including courses at Kubota Gardens and Plant Amnesties Master Pruning Courses, to ensure the highest quality pruning techniques for every tree and shrub.
Pruning shapes and strengthens ornamental trees and shrubs while maintaining their natural beauty. Whether you need a one-time pruning to catch up or ongoing maintenance for rare and significant plants, we ensure they are cared for without improper shearing or over-trimming.
Hedges need careful trimming and shaping to remain strong and vibrant. Our team ensures sharp hedgeshears and precise detail work to create clean, even shapes. If your hedge has grown too large, we offer hedge reshaping services to reset its height and width for easier maintenance in the future.
We specialize in ornamental tree pruning that landscapers often do not handle and tree care companies may opt out of. These trees require expert pruning techniques, not oversized chainsaws or improper shearing. Our team uses specialized equipment to enhance the health and structure of trees up to 25 feet tall.
Proper pruning improves fruit production, tree strength, and overall health. Our lead tree care expert, Brandon, has extensive experience pruning fruit trees and personally trains our team in best pruning practices for different varieties.
Some trees require specialized pruning techniques to maintain their unique structure. Whether you need Japanese pine pruning, coppicing for stronger regrowth, pleaching for hedge tunnels, or espalier pruning for structured trees, we provide precise care for unique pruning needs.
Sometimes, trees need to be removed due to overcrowding, disease, or structural risks. Our team is fully equipped to safely remove small trees up to 25 feet tall while minimizing impact on surrounding landscaping.
Moving a tree requires careful root handling and strategic replanting to prevent stress and transplant shock. We relocate small trees and shrubs with proper techniques to ensure a successful transition.

What type of pruning do you offer?
We specialize in:
How often should trees be pruned?
It depends! Proper tree care is based on both your goals for the tree but also what species of tree we’re working with. We can help educate and navigate the proper cadence to keep your trees looking their best.
Can you help fix a hedge that has grown too large?
Yes! Our hedge reshaping service trims overgrown hedges back to a manageable size while maintaining a healthy structure.
Can you handle large trees or only work on smaller plants?
Uh oh… here it comes again… It depends! While we love trees big and small our company is best equipped to prune on trees 20 feet tall and smaller (Think a standard 2-story house). For larger trees, we can consult on their health, and develop plans to improve their roots and soil surrounding them, but we’re not equipped to do climbing or removal of large trees. Though, we’d be happy to refer you to other wonderful arborists in the area.
Can you transplant small trees to a different location?
Yes! We transplant trees and shrubs up to a 3-inch caliper, ensuring proper root handling and placement for a successful move.
